Apple Pie Contest

Have a great pie recipe?  Bake it up and enter to win prizes from Albemarle CiderWorks and The Charlottesville Cooking School!  Details below:

  • Each year at the Vintage Virginia Apples Harvest Festival, bakers from across central VA submit their best apple pies for taste testing by a panel of local food luminaries. Woo the judges with your carefully selected apple varieties and secret ingredients!

First and second place winners will take home gift certificates from VVA and The Charlottesville Cooking School. After the judging, all pies will be sold by the slice by the Cove Garden Ruritans, with proceeds supporting their philanthropic endeavors.

To sign up, email fruit@albemarleciderworks.com, or call 434 297 2326. On Saturday November 4, please plan to deliver your pie to the events tent by 11:30 a.m. Judging will begin at noon, and prizes will be announced around 12:30 pm. Please deliver pies in disposable pie tins, with a notecard listing your name, contact info, and ingredients attached to the bottom.
